Across the country, mothers are showing up in every corner of public life, as athletes, performers, spectators, event attendees, workers, vendors, volunteers. They bring their babies, their pumps, their commitment, and their whole selves. Outdoor public spaces are beginning to honor mothers, creating environments where breastfeeding, pumping, and storing breastmilk are treated with intentionality as supported parts of the human experience.

This shift is visible on the national stage. The New York Times highlighted the rise of lactation stations at marathons, affirming that elite athletes are also mothers and deserve the infrastructure to participate fully. Procter & Gamble sought out MilkSpace® LLC to serve the Fort Cavazos “Rock the Brave” Family Festival, the same year the U.S. Olympics Committee introduced its first onsite nursery, a powerful acknowledgment from a global brand that maternal-centered spaces are essential to creating inclusive, family-friendly experiences.
